Irrigation Technician

Description: We have a fulltime permanent role for an irrigation technician.

All trees and vines in our orchards must be irrigated with the right volume of water at the right times. The kiwifruit must be protected from frost using water-based protection methods.

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for achieving the targets by controlling and  monitoring, reporting and maintaining our irrigation and frost protection across the property. This is a hands-on job. You might be programming an app, getting your feet wet clearing out a water intake, or your hands dirty maintaining the water mains, risers or drippers.

When not involved with irrigation, you would be assisting with harvest or helping with other orchard work.

$25 – $30 per hour
Full time

Hours: Our normal hours are 7.30am to 4.30pm Mon – Fri and some Saturday work will necessary if the weather has been poor during the week.  If frost threatens our kiwifruit in spring, you might get called out at night or very early morning.

Requirements: A full clean New Zealand Driver’s License is essential.

Orchard experience is desirable and previous experience with orchard irrigation systems is ideal.

You will need to have “hands-on” attitude and be used to using a variety of tools and equipment.
