Apple Thinning Jobs

Description: We have apple thinning work for starting mid October. We expect this work will finish just before Christmas in mid December.

When the apple trees have finished flowering the apple blossom produces bunches of baby apples. Using your fingers, a select number of fruit are removed from each bunch. This allows the remaining fruit to grow to a target size with a certain number on each tree or vine.

This is physical work. As an apple thinner you will often have your arms raised and constantly using your hands and fingers. Apple thinning may require working on orchard ladders.

Start date: The start date is dependent upon growing conditions but we anticipate 20th October.

Hours: Our normal hours are 7.30 am to 4.30 pm Mon – Fri and longer hours including Saturday work will be necessary if the weather has been poor during the week, or during the harvest season.

Rates: From $24.00/hr and piece-work rates will apply.

Location: 91 Umukuri Road, Riwaka, Motueka

Requirements: All applicants will need to have photo ID and proof they are eligible to work in NZ.

Non-NZ residents without the right to work in New Zealand need not apply.
