The wait is over, harvest season has officially begun at Fairfield Orchards, and we're off to a flying start.
Posy Leads the Way
The first variety off the blocks this season is our Posy, picked from our orchards up the stunning Riwaka Valley. Seeing the packhouse spring back to life is always a special moment, and 2026 is no exception – the lines are running and the fruit is looking fantastic.
Pictured is Fonua Taliuali from Tonga, a familiar and much-valued face at Fairfield. Fonua has been part of our Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) workforce since 2019, and he represents the dedication and skill that our seasonal team brings to the orchard and packhouse each year. We’re grateful to have him back.
Already on the Water
It hasn’t taken long to get product moving. The first containers of Posy have already been loaded and are on their way to Taiwan – a great start to what promises to be a busy export season.
From Fairfield Orchards, our fruit travels to markets across the globe, including China, Taiwan, India, the broader Asian region, the United States, the UAE and Europe.

Getting high-quality New Zealand apples to consumers worldwide is what drives everything we do, from orchard management right through to post-harvest logistics.
Royal Gala Up Next
With Posy underway, attention now turns to Royal Gala, with picking and packing set to commence this week. As one of our key export varieties, Royal Gala will see the packhouse operating at full pace in the days and weeks ahead.
We’re excited for the season ahead and will be sharing updates as harvest progresses. Watch this space!
